Privacy Policy

BrieflyTold (“we”, “us”) publishes short news briefs at brieflytold.today. We collect as little information as we can to run the site. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
Newsletter: if you subscribe, we store your email address and the date you signed up. Nothing else is required.
Usage data: like most websites, we receive basic technical information when you visit — pages viewed, referring site, approximate location (country or city), browser and device type. We use Google Analytics to measure this in aggregate.
We do not ask for your name, address, phone number, or payment details, and we do not require an account to read BrieflyTold.
2. How we use information
To send the newsletter you asked for, to understand which stories and sections readers find useful, to keep the site secure and working, and to meet legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your email address with advertisers.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
We use a small number of cookies and local storage for analytics and to remember basic preferences. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work. See our Cookie Policy for details.
4. Service providers
We rely on trusted providers to host the site, store data, send email, and measure traffic (including Google Analytics). They process information only on our behalf and under their own security and privacy commitments.
5. Data retention
We keep your newsletter email until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Aggregated analytics are kept according to our analytics provider's retention settings.
6. Your rights and choices
You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any email, or by writing to legal@brieflytold.today. You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the information we hold about you.
California residents: under the CCPA/CPRA you have the right to know, delete, and correct personal information and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Residents of the EU, UK and other regions with similar laws may also object to or restrict processing and lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority.
7. Children
BrieflyTold is a general news service not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Security
We use industry-standard measures, including encrypted connections and restricted access to stored data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect the little information we hold.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service grows, including when our mobile app launches. We will change the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, notify newsletter subscribers.
